Why they had to go and screw up a good thing is beyond me! I agree. Gmail needs an option to permanently use the old version. I had gotten pretty used to the new version, but just saw the old version link today and tried it out. I didn't realize how much faster the old version really was! I also much prefer the old contacts page. It was just so simple, so straightforward, and so My other email providers, AOL and Yahoo!

They're sooooo slow and bloated. I thought Google would never do it, but now they're moving in the same direction. What now? I coudlnt agree more the new version sucks ass. Google is going south on many avenues New version's lack of e-mail address autofill feature is a royal pain. Also, I too do not want the chat crap clutter. If I cannot get the old version permanently back I am leaving Google Mail and believe it or not returning to aol. You might even find links to useful services. How many employees would Google need to answer to each of the messages in a timely manner? Google automates the process and only answers to some of the messages. If you receive an automated response, reply with more details and Google might answer you. You're not missing too many features anyway colored labels, AIM integration, updated contact manager and the old version is still faster and more stable. The user should have more choices and setting options not less.
