I run a small business and I need my stuff secure, I need financials safe, I need to know that my customer's information is safe, I need to be able to communicate safely and reliably with customers so my phone and computer must have protection so I don't lose everything. I completely understand Norton having better options, having other services available to me if needed.
They are a great product and have ways to make it better. What I think they should do instead of keeping constant banners and ads and popups is have a selectable option Need Something Else? Hell, having 1 banner or ad pop up roughly once a month that had a little "x" on it which I could close to not see again would be fine. That is what other services do. But this constant annoyance has brought me here, to knock their otherwise great product, because I feel if enough people know and share their negative experience Norton will hopefully change this to something a little less undesirable.
I have literally wasted 30 minutes because of my annoyance, thank you Norton. I initially posted this elsewhere, just wanted to expand potential views of my post. VERY Unethical company. If I could give them NO stars I would. Had heard so many great things about Norton thought I'd give it a try. Installed the free trial they offered.
It would not work. Could not get it to even open. Kept getting messages that it could not "connect". Uninstalled and re-installed it after making sure all remnants of previous install was removed. Sat on phone NO ONE answered. No response to multiple emails. Finally removed it from my system. Show More has expired. My email address had to come from Norton.
It was an email that I seldom used and then ONLY for personal correspondence with three 3 family members. To this day the only consistent spam email I get at that email address is regarding Norton. Makes me believe this company, that brags about how secure our personal information entrusted to them, is selling our email address. Would never trust them again. Will never allow them near any personal information again Denis Desautels J. I too, had a very bad experience with Norton with LifeLock.
The first problem is that you have to manually turn the VPN on. This is ridiculous. Second problem is you cannot change your phone number.
They have to cancel your ac Show More count and create a new one for you. When they create your new account you have to give them a new email. Most people don't have multiple email accounts. I ended up getting a refund. How can anyone expect them to protect you when they can't do simple things.
Norton is a joke. Lousy Product - Norton Premium. For starters I have had difficulty installing Norton Premium. After 2 tel calls to Norton lasting many hours , I manage to install it. Then came other problems.
Luckily was able to recover to Windows thro system restore. Recently got another BSOD which is unrecoverable. Have to re-install Windows 10 Professional.
Now losing confidence in Norton products and that is why at this website to asses whether to continue with Norton. It is quite to get a refund because I bought it at retail outlet. I lost my job a few months back after my divorce with my wife.
I tried everything positive to make sure I took good care of my kids but all failed, and I was in debt which makes everythin Show More g worse. I was kicked out of my home and i had to live with my neighbor after pleading with her to allow me to stay with her for some days while I figured out how to get a home which she agreed to, but no one was willing to help anymore.
I bumped into this page from google and I was excited about this, then I contacted the hackersBill Dean. I never believed my eyes! The card got blocked the third day and I contacted them and I was told it's a mistake from my end.
Be carefull with the Credit Card automatic renewal button, That reminder renewal number from to time to renew will disappear, and just say active, so beware of renewal end date for one, second they give you Norton utilities if you have automatic renewal for free, but if you cancel automatic renewal option, Norton utilities will cancel automatically, then the next time I turned my computer on, I was locked out from windows.
Mohammed E. Actually, i bought norton deluxe and only thing is ui is horrible! Then i realized that ui can changed to normal ui. There's only 2 themes and one is super bad. After changing to old ui, norton wasnt that bad.
It blocked viruses from opening. Better than free avs, malwarebytes etc free and its super cheap only 11 dollars for Turkey. Ron Levine. No, Norton didn't stop it I upgraded to the "lifelock" thing, and just found out My bank and Paypal are with me and helping Bob Loeffler. Don't buy it. I purchased Norton for Mac because I'm a subcontractor and the main contractor for the project told me I had too.
I regret it. It doesn't work well for the type of back-ups I use. It tries to delete back-up copies of files. So, I had to turn parts of it off. And it bombards me with spam about turning things on or buying addition. I do not want my applications to bombard me with spam. And I want the product to work well with non-Norton, Apple applications. It doesn't do either. It's a pain in the you-know-what. I don't recommend it. Mar Mac. I used to be a Norton fan, but for the last years Norton is beating badly on my confidence.
I have the full subscription of Norton , with 10 licenses. Last-pass is much better. Not enough? Not even to ping another device. To get the Show More network connection again, iMac requires a restart.
Either way, the hard drive sectors could be entirely damaged, or all the data could get corrupted, making them unreadable. But how does one infect a system in the first place? The most typical way of a boot sector virus transmission is through physical media. For instance, when you connect an infected USB flash drive or floppy disk to your computer, the system reads the volume boot record VBR of that disk.
During the process, the external disk transfers data and then replaces or modifies the original boot code. Then, every time you try to start up the infected computer, the boot virus code will immediately get loaded into the memory and start running as a part of the master boot record.
After that, it will proceed to deceive the System BIOS operation into continuing its residence in the memory. Once establishing itself there, the virus will begin to check the admission or disk entry and spread its malicious codes on different boot sectors and other removable physical disks and media connected to the computer. It can also be transmitted along with the shared network through downloaded files, software, and email attachments. Modern operating systems and computers include advanced protection against boot sector viruses, making them less common nowadays.
However, it would be best if you remain extra cautious in case of possible infection. Boot Sector Virus prevention is all about using proper strategies and following safe digital practices. Below are some tips that can help you do that:. Although viruses are extremely damaging, the majority of computer users seem to ignore the possibility of encountering these infections, which makes them even more vulnerable. Boot sector viruses are one of those threats that could ultimately damage your entire system and destroy the important data stored in them.
Ignoring a boot virus may result in OS failure and many other consequences. So, in conclusion, you must remain extra aware of your digital activities that could lead to boot sector virus infections.
Secure your computers and hard drives with a powerfu antivirus, such as Norton Security , that regularly scans them for malware. Avoid downloading pirated files or plugging stranger USB disks into your devices, and keep them free from boot viruses. All rights reserved. Firefox is a trademark of Mozilla Foundation.

Is this Fast startup enabled and Hibernate off the reason some users claim they have Fast startup enabled and it has no effect on other programs - such as AV's?
